CCSO investigates Honoraville duck killing

The killing of nearly 20 ducks in Honoraville late last week has local law enforcement looking into the situation.
Brenda Reeves and Renea Bell got a phone call in the early hours of Friday morning from Reeves’ son, who said he had found a number of the family’s ducks in the yard.
“Someone had pretty much mutilated them,” Reeves said. “A lot of them had their legs cut off and their hearts cut out. They had lined them up, and it was an awful thing.”
Reeves and Bell had 22 ducks, and Reeves said that four survived.
One of those is healthy, but the other three are still injured, and she said they are trying to “nurse them back to health.”
Reeves said she has some ideas about who might have killed the ducks, but no hard evidence.
The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which isn’t the first duck-related incident in Honoraville recently.
On May 30, deputies investigated a call about two stolen ducks in Honoraville, and a report was filed for third degree theft of property and second degree criminal trespassing.
No arrests have been made in either case, and officials say that no warrants have been issued.
“Someone sick did this,” Reeves said. “If they’ll do that, they’ll do anything. We just hope that someone will come forward with some information and these people will be caught and punished for what they did.”
