Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden wants citizens  in the communities of Sand Cutt and Pettibone to be  aware of a recent rash of lawn equipment thefts.

Harden said a few weedeaters and chainsaws have been reported stolen from a few residences in the area.

“If anyone notices a suspicious vehicle or knows anything about these thefts, let us know,” Harden said.

The thieves, Harden said, have been taking the equipment right out of residents front yards, so as a precautionary measure, citizens should watch what they leave outside.
