The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an apparent homicide near Glenwood.

Just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, deputies responded to Athens Church Road, where the body of DeLange Tawon Harris, 25, of Brantley was discovered lying in a ditch beside the road by passersby.

Harris lived on the Old Brantley-Luverne Road, and his body was discovered on Athens Church Road just east of the intersection with Golden Road.

“We are treating this like a homicide,” said Sheriff Charles West.

Harris had been shot, and the body was turned over to forensics.

“We’ve got several persons of interest yet to be interviewed, and we’ve already ruled out several other persons of interest,” said chief deputy Jimmy Lecroy.

“We’ve been working hard on this case, and the investigation is ongoing,” Lecroy added.
