City, Chamber use QR to promote Greenville

The city of Greenville and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce have embraced one of the latest trends of the digital age, QR codes.
The city’s new QR, or quick response, code was published in this month’s Chamber of Commerce newsletter.
The two-dimensional, matrix-style barcode contains information that can be “decoded” by dedicated readers such as those found on many current camera phone models.
The QR code promoting Greenville contains a URL that links the user to the city’s official website, www.greenville-alabama.com. When the code is scanned with a compatible device, the user is quickly directed to the website.
The chamber will explore ways to use the new QR code, including incorporating it into future print materials related to the city and Chamber of Commerce, said Executive Director Francine Wasden.
“We’re excited about this new opportunity to promote Greenville,” Wasden said.
