Johnnie Ray Luckie

Johnny Ray Luckie died February 13, 2011 at the Bethany House in Auburn. He was born March 29, 1928 in Greenville. His parents were Elvin Milton and Lenora Luckie. He is survived by two brothers, Ollie Gray Luckie of Greenville and Otis Luckie of Wetumpka. His brother, Kenneth, is deceased.
After high school, Johnnie Ray joined the Army Air Crops in 1945. He decided to make a lifelong career of the military. In 1952 he married Barbara Bell Tole from Wichita, Kansas. Their four sons are Anthony, John Wayne, Kenneth and Robert. There are five grandchildren: John Ross Luckie (Wayne and Mable Luckie) of Montgomery, Lakin and Auren Luckie (Robert Luckie) of Wetumpka and Nick and Alli (Anthony and Valerie Luckie) of Opelika. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Montgomery in 1971.
For the next 20 years he was employed by Rheem Manufacturing. In 2005 he moved to Auburn. His wife, Barbara died in 2008.
Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice Advantage, Auburn.
