Wynton Hodges

Wynton Hodges of Georgiana, Al, passed away quietly on January 26, 2011. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:30 PM at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Allen Stephenson will be officiating with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing. There will be viewing prior to the service. Born March 31, 1924 in Brewton, Alabama, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman A. Hodges and grandchild, Lanis Crawford McInvale. Survived by his sister, Miriam Hodges Foshee of Kenmore, NY and his lovely and devoted wife of 66 years, Santifee Hughes Hodges of Georgiana, Al, daughter, Ruby Hodges McInvale (Terry), son, Wynton Hodges, Jr. (Emily); grandchildren, Anson Drake McInvale, Randall Wynton Hodges, great-grandchildren, Baker Zane McInvale and Lance Cole McInvale. Wynton hodges graduated from Georgiana High School and Southern School of Printing in Nashville, Tn where he was then hisred as an instructor in 1946. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and employed for 27 years at the Butler County News in Georgiana, Al. and retired from Crown Zellerbach. Hodges was a member of the American Legion, and a Mason. He was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Georgiana, Al. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying turkey hunting and fishing his entire life.
