Several local students are selling hot chocolate, apple cider and powdered doughnuts on Friday for a good cause. Mary Avery Keen, Mason Keen, Emma Jo Thomas, Jess Causey and others will set-up their food stand at 2:45 p.m. at the corner of Manningham Rd. and Wood Valley Rd. and every thing’s a dollar.
All money collected will go to benefit Nate Simmons, 2, the son of Jason and Ashley Simmons who has been diagnosed with leukemia. Donations will also be accepted, said Ann Keen, mother of the Keen children.
It’s not the first time the same children have been involved in fundraising. In the summer, they set up a lemonade stand at the exact corner and made over $90 in sales which they donated to help clean up the Gulf of Mexico following the oil spill.
