Due to the approaching winter storm, Butler County public schools and Fort Dale Academy will not open on Monday, Jan. 10.
The public schools made that decision a little after 2 p.m. FDA followed suit soon after.
Here’s the official release from the county school system:
“Butler County Schools will be closed on tomorrow, January 10, 2011, due to icy conditions and impending road closures. This school day will be made up on Monday, March 14, 2011, which is an Inclement Weather day already built in to the school calendar for this purpose.
We hope you stay warm and return safely to school on Tuesday. If a delay to the start of school is necessary on Tuesday, notification will be made through these same channels.”
Butler County EMA Bob Luman said that county roads will be closed at 6 p.m. Sunday night except for emergency traffic. He said the courthouse will be closed for business on Monday as well.
Greenville City Hall and all city buildings including the senior nutrition center will be closed tomorrow. Monday’s garbage route will be picked up on Tuesday.
Also, the Greenville city council meeting for Monday has been moved to Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
The scheduled basketball game between McKenzie at Georgiana will be played on Tuesday, Georgiana head coach Kirk Norris said.
