An attempted Christmas caper left one man with minor injuries to the head and two suspects on the run.
Sheriff Kenny Harden said they received a called around 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 25 in reference to a robbery at S and W Foodmart on Pineapple Highway.
‘The man working there was closing up and went outside, fixing to lock up the door when two males came around with guns, hit him in the head.”
The men tried to make the store clerk gain access to the safe, but the clerk had no way to access it. The suspects fled the scene once it became apparent that they would not gain access to the safe’s loot.
Harden said that the Butler County Sheriffs Department is offering an undisclosed award for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved.
All that is known is that the men were two black males; no height or weight information is available. Harden said that a police sketch artist was working on coming up with an artist rendering, which will be released to the public as soon as it is available.
