Eagles still fending off injuries

Manny Norrell will be among one the Eagles that will be watching Friday’s second round playoff game versus Bessemer.
Norrell received a concussion last week against Morgan.
“We are still playing witih injuries, but just about everyone is at this point in the season,” said coach James “Speed” Sampley.
Each week, as one Eagle comes off the injured reserve, another has joined it. But Sampley isn’t going to use injuries as an excuse.
“We are going to have to play like we did Friday night, executing with enthusiasm,” Sampley said. “We just need to step up and do what we are supposed to.”
Bessemer touts an impressive, 11-0 record, Sampley said.
“They have managed to find a way to win every week,” Sampley said. “They got good skill people, their line does a great job and they are well coached.”
Offensively, Bessemer runs a 3-4 spread offense, Sampley said.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday in Bessemer.
A win would advance the Eagles to the state championship on Nov. 19, while a loss will end Fort Dale’s playoff run.
