The Luverne Garden Club was recently honored with a number of state, district and national garden club awards.
At the state level, the garden club took home awards in Civic Development, Landscape Design, the Smokey Bear Poster Contest and an honor as a Club of Distinction.
Anna Lowe, a second-grader at Crenshaw Christian Academy, won the poster contest, while a number of different projects contributed to the Civic Development award.
Work at the Crenshaw Cultural Plaza, Douglas Park, Crenshaw Hospital Courtyard and Emmaus Cemetery Memorial Garden helped the club attain that award.
At the Deep South District level, Lowe also won the poster contest and the club placed third in the community action category.
The club was also presented a certificate in Appreciation of Award participation at the national garden club awards ceremony.
