With its charter membership goal met, the Georgiana Action Civitan Club is set to celebrate with its first banquet Thursday night, August 26, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Georgiana. The event will be catered by J&D’s Country Dining.
Joining local Civitan members and their families for the gala occasion will be Civitan dignitaries and representatives from local Civitan clubs.
“Of course, the charter members of the Georgiana club will be the true guests of honor, and we certainly hope all will attend this special night,” said Tami Awe, president-elect of the Enterprise Civitan Club, the sponsoring organization for the Georgiana Civitan group.
Elected at the August 19 meeting were Byron Ward as president; Wendall Andrews as president-elect; Verlinda Dixon as secretary; Ernie Scruggs as treasurer; Douglas Golden as sergeant-at-arms; media, webmaster and PR, Alan Ward and directors, Larry Creech, Debby Mayberry, Pam Ward, Jessica Ward and Joyce Herring.
“We had another good meeting last Thursday with lots of good discussion and fellowship and we’ve now reached our goal of 30 charter members, with Jennifer Lee and Janice Stokes joining us,” said Awe.
“Our highlights for August 26 will be the initiation of charter members and the installation of charter officers. We want everyone to arrive a little early to register and enjoy socializing. It is going to be a wonderful night for this community.”
Following Thursday’s charter ceremonies, The Georgiana Action Civitan Club will hold regular dinner meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Calvary Baptist Church beginning at 5:30 p.m.
