There’s a new face at the Crenshaw County jail, but it’s not an unfamiliar one.
Former E-911 director Jennifer McDougald was hired as the new jail administrator by the sheriff and County Commission earlier this week.
“She’s been well-acquainted with the jail and the sheriff’s department,” said Sheriff Charles West. “She’s done a great job at 911, and she’s a good fit for this position.”
McDougald served as a jailer from October 2005 to January 2006, when she was promoted to administrative support assistant for the Sheriff’s Office in addition to working dispatch at night.
She served in that position until September 2007, when she took over as the director of the Crenshaw County E-911 system.
“I’ve taken great pride in my position at E-911, and in my desire to serve the community in all aspects of safety,” McDougald said. “I feel like my new position within the county is just another step in serving the citizens to the best of my ability.”
McDougald also said that safety is one of her top priorities in her new position.
“My ultimate goal as the new jail administrator is to create a safe environment — one in which our citizens can be very proud,” she said.
