A fun ride for a good cause is coming up later this month. Harley’s Angels Relay For Life Team is bringing back its Poker Run, set for Saturday, July 24 at the Butler County Fairgrounds in Greenville.
Participants will get to enjoy a 140-mile ride through scenic south Alabama, says Harley’s Angel April Langford.
“We are asking for donations of $15 per hand and $5 per rider. The rider who ends up with the best hand will take home $100 and even the worst hand will earn a prize,” Langford said.
50/50 tickets will also be available, along with door prizes and additional tickets selling for $5 for six or $1 each.
“We have a fun, family-friendly event planned and all the monies we raise going for a great cause, the fight against cancer,” Langford said.
Jessica Garrard, community representative for the American Cancer Society in Butler County, applauds Langford and her team for continuing their fundraising efforts for the cause.
“This is a small team that accomplishes great things for our Relay every year and we appreciate all their efforts,” Garrard said. “We hope area motorcycle riders will support this event.”
Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 24, with the first bike out at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided at registration.
“We ask everyone to come back to the fairgrounds and enjoy great bands, music and games. The Butler County Bike Jam, sponsored by Thunder Roads Magazine, will also be taking place that day, so there will be lots going on that day,” Langford said.
All proceeds from the Harley’s Angels Poker Run will benefit the 2010 Relay For Life in Butler County.
