The Mites 7 and 8-year-old All-Stars will face Troy tonight for a chance to move on to state.
Coach Stacy Meyers says her team has steadily improved since the first game.
“When we started out, we were real nervous and had a bunch of errors,” Meyers said. “Every night since then, we’ve hit the ball, and we have played defense.”
The Mites started the tournament out with a 14-4 loss to Eufaula on Friday.
That’s when things took a turn for the better. It started with a 7-6 win over Crenshaw on Saturday, then on Monday, the Mites crushed Coffee County, 15-0.
On Tuesday, the Mites had a chance for redemption against Eufaula.
“Once we started hitting the ball, Eufaula started making errors,” Meyers said.
Greenville came out on top, 12-0.
Meyers said her team drew a by, which pitted Eufaula against Troy Wednesday night. Eufaula lost, 11-7.
Greenville plays Troy tonight to determine who will move on, Meyers said.
“We are going to have to play defense like we did against Eufaula the second time,” Meyers said. “If we play defense and don’t throw the ball around, we will be fine.”
