BOE attorney honored for service

Butler County attorney Lewis S. “Pete” Hamilton of the Powell and Hamilton Law Firm has been honored by his peers for service as president of the Alabama Council of School Board Attorneys. He was presented with a plaque during ACSBA’s annual meeting earlier this month at Orange Beach.
“Pete served ACSBA well as president was dedicated to moving the council forward,” said ACSBA executive director Sally Howell. “His leadership was admirable.”
In 2008-2009, Hamilton served as vice president of ACSBA, which provides professional development and networking opportunities for more than 100 attorneys who represent Alabama’s local school boards.
Hamilton has represented the Butler County Board of Education since 1977. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and a juris doctor degree from the University of Alabama Law School. Hamilton is an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tuckbatchee Area Council Executive Committee. A past president of the Greenville Rotary Club, Hamilton has been chairman of the Walter O. Parmer Scholarship Trust Board of Examiners for more than 20 years.
