A hearing to determine if a Butler County Board of Education member resides in the district he represents has been rescheduled for Sept. 2, according to the circuit clerk’s office.
The hearing is at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Ed McFerrin.
Plaintiffs in the case Greg Griffin and Vonciel Bedgood allege that BOE member Johnny Lee, who represents District 5, actually resides within District 1.
Griffin and Bedgood claim they have information that Lee’s residence is at 18990 Mobile Road in Georgiana.
Lee maintains that he lives at 503 Cook Bridge Road in Georgiana, making it a part of District 5.
Lee was appointed to the board in June 2007 to fill a vacancy left by Joanne Peak. The following year, Lee was elected to a full six-year term.
The hearing, which was originally set for July 13, was rescheduled so that attorney James Anderson, counsel for Griffin and Bedgood, can participate in the runoff for the Democratic nomination for Alabama Attorney General.
