The audit for the Town of McKenzie is still ongoing, but “no news is good news,” says town clerk Tina Powell. “We haven’t gotten any calls pertaining to any problems, so things are looking good so far,” Powell said.
After a cancellation by a representative of the USDA last month, Powell said a visit from a representative of the government program was still on the agenda for the July 12 meeting. The council is hoping to obtain grants and guidance in attracting businesses to the community.
Due to the July 4 holiday falling on a Sunday this year, the next McKenzie town council meeting is set for 7 p.m., Monday, July 12 at Town Hall located inside Banktrust. The normal meeting schedule is the first Monday of each month.
