Lurleen B. Wallace Community College recently received statewide recognition in the form of a Pyramid Award from the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association.
The award recognizes outstanding video production for a DVD highlighting the college’s various programs of study and is the highest recognition for the category by the association of community college public relations, marketing, and recruitment professionals.
“Whether a traditional student entering college for the first time or an adult re-entering the educational system, there are often questions about the types of programs available locally,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel.
“The college produced short, two-minute videos of each of our technical and academic programs, which are a really convenient way for students to explore the different options LBW offers. Lisa Patterson did a fabulous job of coordinating this project and our faculty lined up students and graduates to talk about their experiences.”
Each video features a faculty member explaining the career opportunities and what the program involves, and business leaders describe their satisfaction with LBW graduates, he added.
“I am very impressed with the quality of the production. This is a great asset to students interested in career options.”
The videos are provided to potential students, high school counselors, and others, and will soon be available as links on the LBWCC website.
