In spite of the cancellation of this year’s Celebrate America at Tiger Stadium, county citizens hankering for the “rockets’ red glare” can take heart. Freedom 2010 is set for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 29 at 3944 Cahaba Road in Greenville.
Sponsored by Chad and Christa McGriff, owners of SkyArt, Inc., a fireworks import company, Freedom 2010 will offer the only public fireworks display in Butler County this holiday season, says McGriff.
“We’ve had a good response from local churches who are helping supply refreshments for us. We’ll offer free hot dogs, drinks and more for those attending,” McGriff said.
The business owners network with youth ministries in various cities across south central Alabama to man their seven fireworks stands.
“The monies raised help fund local youth ministry budgets,” McGriff said.
The site of the show is located four miles past Hooks BBQ at the end of the road, in front of Cambrian Ridge Golf Course. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs so they can sit back and enjoy the show.
