The members of the dixie minors all-star team will be announced as early as Thursday, said parks and recreation director Jerome Harris.

“We have 6 teams and coaches can nominate as many as they want to nominate,” Harris said. “The kids get votes from all six coaches go on.”

Harris said 12 boys would make the cut.

“Sometime we do it in the first round and sometimes it takes 5 rounds,” Harris said. “Most of the time, there are more than 12 kids that deserve to be all-stars. You just have to sit down and weigh the options for who will play the best together and have the best chemistry.”

This year differs from years past, as Dixie minors will have two all-star teams. IN addition to a 9 and 10 year-old combined team, there will also be a new “rookie” league consisting of only 9-year-olds.

Harris says more about the all-star game, location and dates, will be known after a June 14 organizational meeting in Enterprise.
