Alabama-based Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers has been named the Golden Hammer Retailer of the Year by Home Channel News.
The award was presented during the 65th annual National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, which concluded May 7.
The Golden Hammer is presented to the hardware retailer who “demonstrates its commitment to the support of retailer sales, marketing and partnership efforts.” As winner of the award, Marvin’s is featured on the cover of the May issue of the Home Channel News monthly magazine.
Headquartered in Leeds, Alabama, Marvin’s Building Materials and Home Centers operates 26 stores in Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.
During the awards ceremony, Craig Cowart, who began his career at Marvin’s as a part-time paint mixer and is now president, paid tribute to the company’s approximately 600 associates.
“They’re the ones who take our vision and our mission to make our customers’ lives easier and make it real,” Cowart said. “They’re the ones that make us successful.”
From the start of 2004 to 2010, Marvin’s has grown from an 18-unit company to 26 units, with four openings coming in 2009 alone, despite the record-breaking lows in residential construction during that year.
Marvin’s is known for its friendly, neighborhood stores that make home improvement projects easy and affordable.
