The Tigers are moving on in the playoffs after sweeping Monroe in the area tournament.
GHS beat Monroe 15-0 and 14-4 and will be traveling to Gulf Shores for region play.
Coach Donna Sunnycalb said her girls were playing good, but still need to play better.
“Our competition is going to be a lot stiffer in the region tournament,” Sunnycalb said. “We are going to have to play sharp defense and really hit the ball if we are going to compete.”
The Tigers have won the past 3 games played, which brings their season record to 16-17.
Tigers are set to play Rehobeth during the first round of regional play in Gulf Shores.
Gulf Shores, Faith Academy, St. Paul’s, Spanish Fort, Monroe and Eufaula are also in the region.
Sunnycalb said that in such a tough region, all she is hoping is that her girls just play their best.
“I definitely want to win, but I at least want to compete,” Sunnycalb said. “I don’t want to go down there and get embarrassed.”
The top two teams from the regional tournament In Gulf Shores go on to state.
GHS plays Rehobeth at 8 a.m. Friday morning. If they win, they will play again a 6:30 p.m. If they lose, the Tigers will play at 3:30 p.m.
If the Tigers lose their second game, their season will be over.
“It’s win or go home,” Sunnycalb said.
