Darren Douthitt is preparing to get to know the people of Butler County. Douthitt, who has completed contract negotiations for the superintendent’s position with the Butler County Board of Education, said in a telephone interview on Tuesday he is wrapping things up with his job in Lee County and looking to find a home to rent in the Greenville area.
And he wants to give the citizens a chance to meet him and voice their questions and concerns.
“Part of my entry plan is to schedule a series of meetings early on in the various districts of the county. I want to give everyone who is interested the opportunity to meet me and talk with me,” Douthitt said.
He is still planning to begin his superintendency on May 3.
“I am really looking forward to getting familiarized with people and communities throughout the county,” Douthitt said.
A special called meeting of the BOE has been set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at the Central Office Boardroom on Oglesby St. The public is encouraged to attend.
