Humane society ball a howling success

More than 80 animal lovers from near and far came to the Chef’s Table Saturday night to enjoy a fun-filled evening at the community’s very first Dog-Utante Ball and Cat-Sino Night. The fundraiser for the Butler County Humane Society offered guests tasty hors d’oeuvres by flickering candlelight, a variety of casino games where the House wanted you to win, and a chance to bid on donated goods and services during both a silent auction and a very lively live auction.
The piece de resistance proved to be the “lead out” of several adoptable puppies and dogs, dressed in their Sunday best, eliciting many “oohs” and “aahs” from the audience.
“I am really pleased at how everything has gone,” said Meredith Mann, chairman of the event. “My hope is everyone leaving tonight will say, ‘Gosh, I had a great time and I hope they do this next year.”
Proceeds from the event will go toward the “Second Chance” no-kill animal shelter project.
