Janet Phillippi

Janet Liddell Phillippi died peacefully at her home in Camden, Alabama, the home where she grew up and had spent the last 25,
years of her life.
Born July 5, l925, in Camden, Al., she was the daughter of the late Glen David Liddell and Marguerite Smith Liddell. For 52 years, she was a devoted wife to the late William Robertson Phillippi of Camden, Al.
From 1948 to 1985, the had resided in Birmingham, Al.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jan and Jack Shannon, Birmingham, Al., Bo and Wylynn Phillippi, Camden, Al., Mary Glen and Edgar Grant, Montgomery, Al., Ginny Phillippi Martin and Lee Martin; six grandchildren, Jack Shannon, Richmond, Va., Liddell Shannon, Cullowhee, N.C., Baker and Win Grant, Montgomery, Al., Billy and Wyman Phillippi, Camden, Al.; Sister: Martha Liddell Donald McCarty. She was preceded in death by her brother, Glen David Liddell, of Camden, Al. She served her Lord faithfully and raised her children at South Highland Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, Al. She regarded her greatest accomplishment and highest honor with the Honorary Life Membership Award by the Women of the Church of South Highland Presbyterian Church.
After returning to Camden, she continued to serve the Lord at 1st Presbyterian Church of Camden. She was an active member of
Joseph M. Wilcox Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Wilcox County Historical Society. All who knew her understoodher love of flowers and gardening. She will be missed by untold numbers of friends and family that hold cherished memories of “Miss Janet”.
She will be laid to rest at Cook Hill Family Cemetery in Camden, Al. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at 1st Presbyterian Church with visitation at her home, the House on the Hill.
