With the state Junior Miss competition less than a month away, several Luverne groups are preparing to give Crenshaw County Junior Miss Sadie Jones a proper send-off.

The Luverne United Methodist Women are co-hosting a reception along with the Crenshaw County Junior Miss Committee on Sunday, Jan. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at the Dei Center.

The send-off is an annual event to get the Jr. Miss started on her journey to Montgomery.

Jones, who is the daughter of Mike and Stephanie Jones, will leave on Jan. 8.

She will have a week’s worth of learning routines in preparation for the state program, which is set for Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16

During that time, she will be staying with Jimmy and Lee Blackwell, a host family from Pike Road.
