The Greenville American Legion Post No. 24 reported an enthusiastic turnout by the community for the first day of its first annual pumpkin sale last Saturday.
“During the first two hours of the public sale, in front of Fred’s, the Post sold its entire supply of pumpkins,” said Legionnaire Walter Ray Parmer. “The Post greatly appreciates the public support to fund Boys State and Girls State participation by local students.”
Post No. 24 will be selling more pumpkins on Saturday, Oct. 24, in the same location, said Parmer. The sell will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who were unable to pick up their pumpkins last Saturday, and have purchased an advance ticket for one, may their pumpkins up this Saturday, said Parmer.
Parmer said Legionnaires are already planning for an even bigger pumpkin sale next Halloween.
“The sale will be expanded to include a pumpkin patch at the American Legion building on Post Rd.,” he said. “A much larger selection in size and color of pumpkins will be available for families to make the perfect choice. The Post building will be decorated in traditional Halloween colors and of course carved and lighted pumpkins.”
Parmer thanked Fred’s owner Randy Beeson for use of the parking lot this season.
