The McKenzie Tigers got pushed harder than they have been all season against Geneva County and came away with a 27-20 victory.
“It was a hard-fought game,” said head coach Miles Brown. “We just put ourselves in bad situations.”
McKenzie threw an interception just before halftime, which set up a Geneva County score, and with the Tigers up two scores in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs returned a kick up the middle of the field.
“Those were two miscues that gave them points,” Brown said. “We hurt ourselves there, and we also had one touchdown called back for holding.”
The Tigers got a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown from Calvin Henderson, and rushing touchdowns from Freddie Banks and Emmanuel Johnson.
After surviving this week, McKenzie must prepare for a tough region matchup with Brantley next Friday night.
