Mae Ann Griffin died Saturday, June 13, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1 p.m. from Highland Home High School Auditorium with Brother James Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Church of Christ Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville directing. Mrs. Griffin’s body may be viewed Friday, June 19, 2009 from 1 p.m. until family hour starting at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
She was born on June 11, 1926 in Crenshaw County to the union of the late Callie and Hermon Bones.
She united with Springhill Church of Christ at an early age and served faithfully until God called her home.
Sister Griffin was married to the late Cephus Griffin Sr. on June 11, 1949. To that union, six children were born. One son, Johnny Lee (Linda Gail) Griffin, preceded her in death, along with three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her family members: two sons, Cephus (Brenda) Griffin Jr., Miami, Fla., Arthur Mack Griffin, Luverne; three daughters, Dorothy Mae Griffin, Christine Griffin and Linda (Michael) Jones, Luverne; one sister, Eula Tillman, Miami and one brother, Jessie Lee Bones, Luverne. She also leaves to cherish her memories two brothers-in-law, Charlie Griffin and Ledell Griffin, both of Detroit, two sisters-in-law, Earnestine Bones, Miami and Versie Morrow of Birmingham, thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a devoted granddaughter, Michelle Jones; a dear friend, Evelyn Faye Stroud, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
