A huge fundraiser for last year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life is returning even bigger and better this year.

Harley’s Angels, who took top honors for their team efforts at the 2008 event, are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Relay For Life Beauty Pageant, set for Saturday, February 28 at the Ritz Theatre downtown.

Last year’s turnout was so tremendous, the team decided to have not one, but two pageants this year.

“We learned a lot last year. We don’t want anyone missing their family members or friends because of a lack of seating,” said April Langford of Harley’s Angels.

The first pageant, with ages infant to age nine, will kick off at 3 p.m. and the second pageant, featuring contestants ages ten and up, will begin at 7 p.m.

There will be a total of 12 categories (which may be combined in the event there are not enough participants in one group). The evening pageant will include several adult categories, including contestants over 45.

“We will offer prizes to all our winners and runners-up. A ‘Miss Congeniality’ will be chosen in age groups 13 and up,” Langford said.

“We will also have Clyde Mills Photography in place two hours before each pageant time so we can offer professional photographs for all who would like them. We have some wonderful entertainment lined up for intermission. We are looking forward to a great turnout and it’s all for a really good cause.”

The entry fee for the pageants is $25 for each participant; the deadline is Feb. 13. A late fee of $10 will be charged for each late entry. All proceeds will go to the Butler County Chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

Rehearsal will be at 6 p.m., Friday, February 27 at the Ritz Theatre. For more information, contact April Langford at 334-382-0446 or by email at harleysangels36037@yahoo.com.

The Butler County ACS Relay For Life is set for May 8-9 at the YMCA football field.
