Missed free throws. That one area hurt the Fort Dale boys in a weekend tournament at Morgan Academy, says head coach William Johnson.

In the first game of the tournament, Fort Dale squared off against Morgan Academy and lost 54-52.

“Morgan scored one point in the last two minutes, but we went 1-8 from the line,” Johnson said. “We’ve just got to mature as a team.”

The free throw woes continued in the second game of the tournament against Lee-Scott.

The Eagles had an early lead of as much as 16 points, but lost the game 56-50.

Fort Dale only shot 38 percent from the charity stripe against LSA.

“If we shoot 50 percent, we win that game by double digits,” Johnson said. “We’re shooting below 50 percent as a team.”

Fort Dale also had another heartbreaker earlier in the week when they lost to Macon-East 52-50.

However, there were a few bright spots.

Luke Hutcheson and Dustin Till were both named to the all-tournament team, and both had double-doubles on Saturday.

Sanders Hancock also had 16 points to lead the team against Morgan.
