Many Fort Dale fans braved the cold and blasts of wintry wind to watch several Fort Dale students take the field in the AISA All-Star game Thursday night.

The Eagles had four players selected to play for the East squad, which won the game 43-25.

Aaron Callen, Jeffrey Stead, Kendall Gibson and Matt Causey took to the field, and head coach Speed Sampley also served as a coach for the East.

Gibson took home the award for Most Valuable Offensive Lineman for the East.

The players traveled to Prattville on Tuesday, and spent parts of the next three days practicing and preparing for the game.

Cheerleaders Anna Beth Harris, Caroline Dunklin and Elizabeth Dunklin were also selected to participate.

The cheerleaders made the trip on Wednesday and got to learn new dances and cheers.

One highlight of the experience is that the students get to meet players and cheerleaders that have been on the other sideline all season.

“The best part was definitely meeting everyone,” said Caroline Dunklin.

Her sister agreed.

“Hanging out was the best part,” Elizabeth said.

Fort Dale’s dance team also made the trip to Stanley-Jensen Stadium, where they performed at halftime for the crowd.
