Velma Ruth Nichols

Velma Ruth Nichols, age 84, a homemaker and resident of Sweet Water, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Mobile Infirmary. She was born November 28, 1923 in Sweet Water. She was a member of the old Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008 with the Rev. Bobby Hopper officiating. Burial was at Old Union Church Cemetery in Sweet Water.
She is survived by: husband, the Rev. James Harold Nichols of Sweetwater; son, Lanny (Vicki) Nichols of Georgiana; daughters, Darlene (Stan) Littleton of Wrens, Ga/ and Sharon (Johnny) Raybon of Brantley; sisters, Kathleen Jowers and Doris Black, both of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kinner Jowers, Ed Sheffield, Pitt Huckabee, Curtis Gates, Don Black, Perry McKinley. Honorary pallbearers were Bobo Downey, Sid Pope, Bud Black, Andy Etheridge. John Summers and Dwayne Black.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Old Union Baptist Church.
O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed the event.
