CCSD arrests two on sexual abuse charges

The Crenshaw County Sheriff's Department arrested two men on charges of sexual abuse to a minor during the month of August.
According to Sheriff Charles West, Harry Jefferson Driggers Jr., 33, of Brantley was arrested on three counts, Rape 2nd, Sodomy 2nd, and Sexual Abuse, 2nd on Aug. 15. He was then released on bonds totaling $35,000.
West said the case is ongoing and other facts and circumstances could not be released at this time.
Chief Investigator Ronnie White said Driggers turned himself in following allegations that he began having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl in 2001. The relationship allegedly happened on and off over a five-year period.
The victim, who recently turned 18, reported Driggers to the sheriff's department.
White said Driggers voluntarily confessed to the criminal charges during an interview.
"He told me he wanted to get things right with God," said White.
Jimmy Howard Davis, Jr., 41, of Luverne was also arrested on Aug. 8 and charged with Sexual Abuse, 1st. Davis is alleged to have sexually abused a 10-year old. He has since been indicted by the grand jury.
Additionally the grand jury delivered an indictment against Eric Lucas, 28, of Luverne for the possession and unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jarus Welch, 44, of Andalusia was indicted and faces charges of trafficking and manufacturing a controlled substance as well as child endangerment.
Ronald Lewis Lowery, 44, of Luverne was indicted by the grand jury on charges of theft of property, 3rd, escape, 3rd, and burglary, 3rd.
