Scanlan, Thompson united in matrimony

Jody Amelia Scanlan and Mark Everett Thompson were united in matrimony at 2:30 p.m., August 20, 2005, at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Brian Miller.
The bride, daughter of Patricia Scanlan and the late Freeman M. Scanlan of Mobile, was given in marriage by her mother.
The bride's mother wore a pink and cream tweed suit, while the groom's mother wore a lavender dress.
The bride wore a strapless ivory satin gown with a chapel-length train. The gown featured silver and ivory embroidery with pearls and beaded embellishments on the bodice, train and hem.
She carried a bouquet in shades of purple with white roses.
Elizabeth Scanlan of Mobile, the bride's sister, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Keela Dodd of Birmingham and Stefanie Smith of Mobile. Kennedy Thompson, the groom's niece, of Andalusia, served as junior bridesmaid.
The bridesmaids wore silver gowns while the junior bridesmaid wore a lavender satin dress. The attendants carried bouquets in shades of purple.
The groom is the son of Carey and Carolyn Thompson of Greenville.
Lee Hammons of Mobile served as best man.
Groomsmen were the groom's brother, Casey Thompson and the groom's nephew, Stinson Thompson, both of Andalusia, and Thomas Zellers of Burbank, Cal.
A reception was held at the Ashbury Hotel and Suites of Mobile. The reception area was decorated in shades of ivory, silver and purple. Tables were graced with simple vases featuring lavender candles and purple and lavender rose petals.
The three-tiered square wedding cake featured an antique porcelain bride and groom topper. The groom's cake was a two-tier round chocolate cake with fruit decorations and Star Wars figures for the cake topper.
Following a wedding trip to Las Vegas, the couple is now residing in Mobile.
Several events were held in honor of the couple prior to the wedding.
A shower was hosted for the bride in Mobile by her maid of honor and the mother of the bride. Kim Thompson, the groom's sister-in-law, hosted a shower in Andalusia.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Carey Thompson, parents of the groom, was held at The Bakery Caf\u00E9 in Mobile on the evening prior to the nuptials.
