Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Earl Gilbert of Greenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Wendy Michelle, to Malcolm Autrey McMillan Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Autrey McMillan Sr. of Birmingham.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lewis Walker Atkins Jr. of Greenville and the late Lewis Walker Atkins Jr., and Mrs. Thomas Henry Gilbert Jr. of Blakely, Ga. and the late Mr. Thomas Henry Gilbert Jr.

Miss Gilbert is a graduate of Greenville High, Auburn University and Auburn University in Montgomery. She is a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Miss Gilbert is currently employed as a retail sales manager with Alltel Communications in Montgomery.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell Barnett Wright of Spartanburg, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. George Duncan Hastie McMillan Sr. of Auburn.

Mr. McMillan, a graduate of Mountain Brook High School, attended Auburn University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

He is currently employed as branch manager of the Tractor and Equipment Company in Savannah, Ga.

The couple will exchange vows on August 27 at Saint James United Methodist Church in Montgomery.
