The Fort Dale Eagles proved Friday night that you don't have to have a flashy offense to win games, just a good defense.
Having talented backs doesn't hurt much either.
Against Monroe Academy, the Eagles pounded out 257 yards of total offense.
A majority of that yardage came courtesy of the ground game, 254 yards to be exact.
The Eagles displayed a passing game though, a three-yard roll out from quarter back David Moore to tailback Tim James caught the Volunteer defense totally by surprise.
Defensively, the Eagles held the state's leading rusher, Bonner Williams to 34 yards of total offense. FDA also shut down the Vol offense in the second half, with the exception of momentary spurts of life. They were dead on the field.
But, that was in the past.
