Johnna Pitts, who has more than 11 years experience writing and editing in the magazine industry, has joined Greenville Newspapers as a general assignment reporter. Pitts, 40, a native of Greenville and graduate of Greenville High School received her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communica-tions from Auburn in 1985 and was most recently Executive Editor of Brantwood Publishing in Clearwater, Fla. She also spent seven years as Assistant Editor of B.A.S.S., Inc., publisher of the widely known publication BASSMASTER Magazine.
&uot;I'm very excited about the wealth of experience Johnna will bring to The Greenville Advocate, said Advocate publisher Dennis Palmer. &uot;One of the primary responsibilities of any good community newspaper is to have a strong local connection to the community it serves, and with Johnna being a native of Greenville she'll add that much needed element to the pages of our newspaper each week.&uot;
Pitts is excited about returning to Greenville and is looking forward to coming home.
&uot;I'm really looking forward to getting to a town that has a sense of community,&uot; Pitts said. &uot;I'm thrilled about being able to work in the field of journalism and the Advocate has always been a part of my family. Greenville offers a sense of community, which is especially important now that I have my own family. It's the best of both worlds.&uot;
Pitts has two children, Jerald, 12, and Jessica 10.
