When the Eagles come out to the field on Friday night, it will be to host Meadowview Academy, in a very crucial regional game. "This will be a very important game for us," said Eagles Head Coach Speed Sampley. "We have to win this game in order to go to the state playoffs."
Meadowview, with its record of 3-4, is an important team to beat, but beating them is not out of the question, according to Sampley.
"They run basically as a power team on offense, throwing the ball a lot of the time," he said. "For their defense, they run the four-three a lot, with a lot of pressure n it will take a lot of man-to-man play."
Sampley said he is busy with the team, working on passing this week.
"We had a little trouble last Friday catching the ball, so we will be tuning in on that," he said. "Nearly everyone is healthy n Bryce Landwehr is still out with a pulled hamstring, and Jeremy Trull broke his thumb last week n he will be able to play, but his thumb will be in a cast."
Sampley said the focus would be better this week then last.
"Although this week is Seniors Night' we should be more focused then we were on homecoming," he said. "There will be some extra activity, but nothing too distracting for the team."
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
