Georgiana was on the road last week to come into the Camellia City and face the Greenville Red Socks in Dixie Majors play. When they traveled back down U.S. Hwy 31, they took the win with them.
In seven innings of play, Cory Nelson led Georgiana in victory over the Sox, placing three runs on the board to his credit, one of them, the first, in the first inning.
His brother Patrick was close behind him, with two runs, as was Aaron Cox. Eric Gomillion also scored a run, to make the final tally eight for Georgiana.
For the Red Sox, Jon Wright broke the silence in the fourth inning with a run, followed by Bryan Little, also scoring one.
Then it was on to the seventh inning before the Sox scored again, when Bill Cates led the order with a double, and was sent home when Clint Philpot followed him with a double of his own.
It was after base hits by Little and Eric Hicks that Philpot made the last run of the game, bringing the final score to 8-4, Georgiana.
