Council approves DARE grant

On Tuesday, the Greenville
City Council approved a DARE/Law Enforcement Partnership Grant for FY 2001-2002. "The maximum amount of funds that we can receive is $10,000, which will go toward buying instructional materials for use in area schools," said Police Chief Lonzo Ingram. "This is a complete grant with no required match from the city."
Approval was also granted by the council to purchase an air conditioning compressor for city hall.However, the council also postponed approval of the softball complex concessions and scorers building project and authorization of final payment to Randal Nicholas Builders, Inc.
In other business, the council:
approved payment to CWA Group, Inc. for $4,000 for closed landfill groundwater monitoring;
approved payment to ADAPCO for $1,567.50 for the mosquito spraying program.
