BOSWELL, Mr. Carl Bayne, 55, a resident of Rutledge died Friday September 11, 2009. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday September 14, 2009 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Rigdon, Rev. Gary White and Rev. Tate Ray officiating. Interment followed in Mills Chapel Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his parents, Comer and Olene Boswell and a brother, Buddy Boswell. Survivors include his wife, Julie C. Boswell; six children, Hope (Glen) McLeod, Renae (Tate) Ray, Tracey (R.T.) Mount, Bo (Amber) Jordan, Dusty (Cassie) Jordan and Lacey Jones; twelve grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis (Richard) Mitchell, Linda (Wade) Hinton and Deborah Smith; and two brothers, Curtis (Joyce) Boswell and Randy (Sheila) Boswell. Active pallbearers were Cody Boswell, Jake Jordan, Forest Ray, Justin Ray, Brent Boswell and Barrett Boswell. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Ray, Dustin Jordan, Lane Jordan, Tristan Jordan, Dalton Jordan, Maggie Mount and Morgan Acreman.

Tommy G. Dozier, 79, of Smyrna, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Castellaw Funeral Home Jonquil Chapel with Minister Richard Barnes officiating. Burial followed at Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors.

Survivors include daughter, Lynn Dozier, and son, Walter Steven Dozier, both of Smyrna, Ga.; brothers, Noel Dozier, Reginald Dozier, Sammy Joe Dozier, and Maurice Dozier, all of Dozier, Ala.; four grandchildren, Ramona Danielle Daniel, Stephanie Dozier, Casey Dozier and Chyene Dozier; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dozier retired from Lockheed after 40 years. He was a longtime resident of Cobb County, Ga., a member of American Legion Post 160 for 35 years, an avid fisherman and also an avid golfer.

MURPHY, Mr. Howard C., 84, a resident of Montgomery and formerly of Greenville, Ala., died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Greenville, Ala., with Harrison Funeral Home directing. Visitation was held at Harrison Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Murphy is survived by one sister, Luvenia Compton, Virginia Beach, Va., and one brother, Eugene Murphy, Montgomery, and nieces and nephews. Mr. Murphy was a veteran of World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy, a member of Capital Heights United Methodist Church and was Past President of the Exchange Club.

PORTER, Mr. Charles Robert, 82, a resident of Highland Home died Friday September 11, 2009. Graveside services were held at 2 pm Tuesday September 15, 2009 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, AL with Brother Danny Rolling officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Porter was a retired member of Highland Home Fire and Rescue Squad and was co-founder of the Highland Home Baptist Church. He was also instrumental in planning for the construction of the Highland Home Clay Jordan Stadium and was the announcer for Flying Squadron football for 40 years. Upon his retirement the press box was named after him. Mr. Porter was a National Weather Observer for over 45 years and received the John Campanius Holm Award from that agency. He was also a WSFA Television Weather Watcher for 23 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Del Stanley Porter and his parents, R.A. and Adell King Porter. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Richard Jordan; two grandchildren, Kerry ( Stephen) Wilson and Jonathan Robert (Lindsay Browder) Jordan; two great grandchildren, Blake and Blain Wilson; and his beloved dog, Ashley. Active pallbearers were Wayne Wilson, Randy Kelley, Jim Kull, Justin Tadlock, Jimmy Jordan and Steve Brown. Honorary pallbearers were the members of Highland Home Fire and Rescue.
