Engagement: Newton and McNair Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oliver Newton of Greenville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lila Deane, to Michael Stephen McNair, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Stephen McNair of Mobile, Alabama.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Deane Chandler Autrey and the late Dr. George Max Autrey of Fort Deposit, Alabama, and Arthurine Thompson Newton and the late J.V. Newton of Greenville, Alabama.
Ms. Newton is a 1999 graduate of Greenville High School and a 2003 graduate of The University of Alabama where she received a bachelor of science in accounting. She received her master's of accountancy in 2004 from the University of South Carolina. She is currently employed by Ernst & Young, LLP and will be assigned to the Edinburgh, Scotland office in April 2010.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Edith Prine Stuart and the late Mr. George McFadden Stuart of Daphne, Alabama, and Mr. and Mrs. William Hooten McNair of Mobile, Alabama. Mr. McNair is a 2000 graduate of Murphy High School and 2004 graduate of The University of Alabama, where he received his bachelor's of arts degree in history and English. He received a master's degree in historic preservation from the Tulane University School of Architecture in 2006. He was employed by the City of New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission and Vieux Carré Commission, and will pursue further studies in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The wedding will take place Saturday, March 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Greenville.
Engagement: Shackleford and Poole
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell Shackleford III of Mobile, Alabama, announce the engagement of their daughter Caroline Mitchell Shackleford to Calvin Crenshaw Poole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Poole III of Greenville, Alabama.
Miss Shackleford is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Crawford Hope, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell Shackleford, Jr. of Jackson, Alabama. She graduated from UMS Wright Preparatory School in Mobile, Alabama, and from the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is currently a teacher at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile.
Mr. Poole is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Paul Weiss, Jr. and the late Mr. Weiss of Montgomery, Alabama, and Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Calvin Poole of Greenville, Alabama. He graduated from Fort Dale Academy in Greenville, Alabama, and from Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is currently employed by Ben M. Radcliff Contractor, Inc., in
Mobile.
The wedding will take place on May 1st at Ashland Place Methodist Church in Mobile.
